As teenagers, wearing a winter jacket was not cool. They gave up warmth for style. However, as adults, this isn’t the case. Winter jackets are cool to wear because of the new styles and materials. The puffer jacket for men and women has made a comeback and is here to stay. There are other winter jackets that have become fashionable as well. Here are a few you’ll see this season.

  1. Puffer Jackets — As mentioned above, these jackets are very popular. They are stylish and keep you warm, especially on the slopes. Yet, you don’t want to get one that is too puffy or the wrong color. A great puffer jacket has the right material to keep you warm while offering a number of pockets to hold the essentials. For example, the Crescent Down Works + Todd Snyder jacket in olive and tan nylon. It has 700 fill-power down to help you brave a Montana winter. For women, the Prada puffer nylon jacket in orange will get you noticed. It is waterproof and has down and graphene filling for unbelievable warmth.
  2. Eco-Friendly Jackets — If you are into sustainable fashion, there are a number of jackets made of materials from recyclable fabrics and water-proof membranes made with oils (e.g. castor-seed). The Picture Organic Harvest Jacket not only looks great but it’s also eco-engineered. It has a 3-layer stretch and has a 20K waterproof/20K breathability Dryplay Biosource membrane. The Everlane puffy jacket also offers comfort and style. This jacket is made ethically from 100% recycled plastic, Primaloft insulation and fabric. Everlane also offers coats, denim jackets and trenches.
  3. Insulated Shells — If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, jackets with insulated shells will keep you dry due to strategically placed soft fabrics. They aren’t bulky due to the new technology in materials, such as BD.dry™ and DWR coating. The Black Diamond BoundaryLine Mapped Jacket offers such an insulated shell along with stylish lines and colors. The Arc’teryx Gamma LT Hoody is another great choice for its sleek shell and helmet-compatible hood. A water-resistant zipper keeps the jacket water and air tight. You don’t have to be into winter sports to love both of these jackets.
  4. Faux Fur Coats — If you’re not into puffer or performance jackets, the faux fur coat is for you. The softness of the material will make you feel warm and uber-confident. This coat comes in many colors, such as lavender, tan and cobalt. The Freddie Coat by ASTR has a double-breasted front that looks classic while the furry material adds the fun. The Teddy Bear Alpaca-Blend Coat by Max Mara is another furry jacket that is iconic. Made from a blend of alpaca, wool and silk, you will stay nice and toasty. The silk lining makes it very comfortable to wear with layers.
